"NEW HANDGUNS THAT YOU CANNOT PURCHASE
IN MASSACHUSETTS"

We are constantly asked "Can I buy a new (Manufacturer's name/ model) in this state?"

Here is just a PARTIAL listing of new firearms that licensed
Massachusetts residents
CANNOT purchase from a dealer in this state
because they do not comply with the MA Consumer Protection
regulations and/or the 1998 Gun Control laws.

Handguns must meet the requirement of BOTH the 1998 Gun Control LAWS and
940 CMR Consumer Protection regulations. Some handguns are legal to sell under the regs only
and some only under the laws. They must comply with BOTH to be legal to sell.

If you have any questions regarding the future availability of the items listed
below in MA compliant configuration, please contact the manufacturers
directly since we don't know what their plans are.

For a link to the MA AG's site concerning these regulations please visit our REGULATIONS page.

All dealers in MA must follow the regulations without exceptions.

For specific legal questions regarding the Consumer Protection regulations please call the
Office of the Attorney General in Boston. We are not qualified to answer questions regarding
the interpretation of these regs and laws.

Browning Hi Power 9mm or .40sw
(unless they were in MA prior to 10/21/98 and owned by a MA resident or dealer)

Uberti handguns

Kel-Tec handguns.

Nothing from this company that was made after 10/21/98.

Hi Point handguns.

New Charter Arms handguns including the .44 Bulldog and the .38 special Undercover revolvers are now legal to sell in MA. They plan on adding more models including the Pathfinder which is an affordable .22LR revolver. Thank you Charter Arms!

EMAIL US ANY MANUFACTURERS THAT WE MAY HAVE MISSED.

PARDINI Model SP .22LR high precision target pistols

ILLEGAL IN MASS.! Any dealer that sells one of these after 2/14/02 is subject to criminal charges. These are now illegal to sell in Massachusetts because they are not on THE LIST. Although there is an "target" exemption on the   consumer protection regulations, there is no "target" exemption in the Chapter 180 laws.

These were available for sale under the "solely for target competition use" exemption of the Massachusetts consumer protection regulations. We spent a lot of time and money in legal fees to get an official "OK" from the Attorney General's office so that you may be able to buy these. Now they are illegal to sell.

If you bought one of these brand new from a dealer in MA after February of 2002, it is our understanding that it was sold illegally. We could be wrong. If so, please show us where there is a target exemption in Chapter 180 and we'll start selling them again.

Small pistols that are illegal to sell in Massachusetts

Beretta Model 21 Bobcat. This model is a .25 or .22LR

Beretta Tomcat
Beretta .32 Tomcat
NAA Guardian
North American Guardian .32
Kel-Tec P32
Kel-Tec P32

The folks at Magnum Research have emphatically told us that they don't plan on ever
submitting their handguns for MA certification.  Why not Doug? We have lots of customers who would appreciate the fine quality of your handguns.

Therefore, you will never be able to buy a new Desert Eagle or any of their
other fine firearms in this state! It's too bad because Magnum Research has always been know for offering nothing but high quality products.

Another one that we can't sell in MA.  Check out all the nice Single Action Army revolvers that you cannot buy in Massachusetts at:   http://www.usfirearms.com

On May 12th, 2005 (or was it 2004?) Glock announced that they are going to offer MA compliant models. On or about June 30th, new Glock pistols were removed from the MA market due to a difference of opinion between Glock and the MA Attorney General's office over the loaded chamber indicator. News releases from the A.G.'s office are on the Glock page..

Several Beretta pistols are now available in Massachusetts. The .32 acp Tomcat and the other sub-compact models are not available for sale here. Go to our NEW HANDGUNS page for what we CAN sell.

Different models of the USP and the P7M8 that cannot be sold in MASS. The SOCOM is used by members of the S.E.A.L. teams. HK has been talking about certifying some guns. When they do we will let you know.

Hämmerli Model SP20 .22LR Target Pistol
These are illegal in MA because they are not on the APPROVED ROSTER LIST. Before "The List" came out we could sell them under the Consumer Protection Regulations "solely for competition use only" exemption.

PARDINI .22LR Olympic Grade COMPETITION PISTOLS

There is a $5,000 fine to the dealer for selling one of these fine pistols because they were not certified by a testing lab and not on the Approved Roster List.

Oh....and a $1,000 to $10,000 fine!

Most Ruger Semi-auto center-fire pistols are illegal to sell in Massachusetts. However, most of their REVOLVERS were certified for sale March 2002.

As of December 2004 the new MKIII 5.5" .22LR target pistols are available for sale in MA as well as the KP345PR .45 acp and the SR9 pistols.

Thank you Ruger!

CZ 75B pistols. Even though they are pre-98 and have several safety features we can't sell them because they weren't tested and certified. If you can find one that was in MA before the 10/21/98 date you can buy it otherwise...forget it.

For a list of authorized test labs, go to:
http://www.mafseminars.com/MA%20Sales.htm

Go to details

Springfield Armory handguns will not be available in Massachusetts. The factory has said..."WE HAVE NO INTENTION OF GOING THROUGH THE MASSACHUSETTS CERTIFICATION PROCESS because the laws and regulations are not clear". Update 10/16/2009: We have heard that rumors that Springfield Armory is interested in getting some of their handguns certified for sale in MA. I hope that do but I've heard this before and nothing has ever happened. The process is not that hard. S&W certifies handguns for MA all the time...which we greatly appreciate.

As you know, we can sell the Seecamp .32 acp pistols.

The .380 is not available here in MA yet but Larry Seecamp is a very nice person and has told us that he will submit them for MA certification as soon as he can catch up with his backorders around the country.

Thanks Larry!

The new Les Baer Custom Thunder Ranch 1911. $1599

Les Baer custom builds his 1911s entirely in his own state-of-the art facility in the USA, and he builds them from his own forged frames and slides that are heat treated for toughness and hand assembled for a perfect fit. Baer builds 1911s with a well earned reputation for uncompromising quality and unerring accuracy, but they're all realistically priced so they deliver outstanding value.

So, Clint Smith specified the features he wanted and Les Baer built it. Then Les engraved the Thunder Ranch logo on the slide, and gave each pistol a special serial number with

Any KAHR ARMS pistols?

Yes! The PM9 sub-compact 9mm pistol and the Auto Ordnance 1911A1 are both legal to sell in MA. Kahr has told us that more MA models will be available in the future. Great news. Thanks!

SPRINGFIELD ARMORY.

Even though this pistol has extra safeties, a loaded round indicator, many other safety features that would make this MA compliant....the factory has told us that they have no intention of certifying any of their guns for sale in MA.

The arrogant tone of the Springfield Armory representative that I spoke with on the phone may as well said to me...  "We can't be bothered with your state".  Maybe I'm being a little over-sensitive but that's what if felt like.

NEW Custom Loaded 1911-A1 Pistols

We don't like Taurus products due to terrible customer service experiences that we've had. However, it doesn't matter since we can't sell them anyway.
Wilson Custom Firearms

These folks have told us that they "Don't want anything to do with Massachusetts sales" since they don't understand the regs and laws and "don't want any potential legal problems. We don't need the aggravation" END QUOTE

When we could sell them, these were purchased by many law enforcement personnel as back-ups.

Taurus will not certify any of their handguns for sale in MA.

Why?

As with every NAA Mini-Revolver, the hammer need not rest on an empty chamber. Using the original half-way notch cylinder, the hammer may rest safely and securely without chance of accidental discharge.

Like all NAA Mini-Revolvers, they are covered by a lifetime warranty against defects in material and workmanship. The stability and ease of firing has made this gun a favorite with the ladies as well..
